Mount Type - Inside or Outside Mount Refers to the way in which the blind will be hung, either inside or outside the window opening. Inside mount blinds are mounted inside the window frame opening that is recessed from the wall. Outside mount blinds hang outside the window opening on a wood trim, wall or door. Inside mount is by far the most popular mount and provides a nice clean look and finish to your window.

For inside mounts: please make sure to follow the Measuring Instructions on our site; do not make any deductions in your measurements, as our factory will make all necessary deductions to allow for mounting brackets.

Want more natural light in the room? Simply lower the middle bar separating the two fabrics to get brightness from the outside coming in from the top while still maintaining your privacy with the bottom shade. If you want full privacy, simply raise the middle bar to the top so that the light filtering bottom shade covers the entire window. Or for full visibility to the outside, use the cordless Lift & LockTM system to raise the entire shade to the top.

These affordable shades come in a range of everyday neutrals, designed to weave themselves flawlessly into any home décor style or colour scheme. Recommendations and Limitations

  • Inside mount: 1/4" headrail deduction and 3/8" fabric deduction taken at the factory. On outside mount 1/8” fabric deduction and no headrail deductions. Do not attempt to account for fabric deductions by changing measurements on inside mount shades. 
  • White tabbed fabric on backside for bottom fabric (streetside) of shade.
  • For outside mount shades, we recommend adding up to an additional 4" to your width to prevent light gaps on the sides of your window. 
  • Standard inside mount brackets are top mounted. Side mounting brackets available upon request for shades less than 48" wide only. Adding hold down brackets to inside mounts will increase headrail deduction to 1/2" to make room for brackets.
  • Striker plates on shades more than 42" wide will be approximately 4" from edges.
  • Comes standard with colour coordinated painted rails.

The blackout blinds worked so nicely with our oddly large basement bedroom window, prividing much needed light during the day and privacy at night. Install was really easy apart from our screws hitting something in our wall. Not the companies fault at all. I also bought light filtering blinds for my living room. Both blinds came in excellent packaging, fairly quickly, and the measurements were perfect. The blinds are fairly simple to install but we had a couple of hiccups with our living room because of the width of the bracket versus our older window. That wasn't the company or blinds fault, but definitely check how the install will work prior to purchase or ask the customer service for help. We were able to install them with some slight maneuvering and they look awesome. The light filtering blinds provide plenty of light with the wheat, and the darker shade has made our living room much cooler in the late afternoons. They are simple to pull down but I am still careful. Overall I am very happy with my purchase!

Unable to find any local supplier of blinds here in Kingston and unable to get any real service at the big box stores, I looked for a Canadian company on line. We were quite impressed by the website, by the fact that they sent samples of the materials in which we were interested and by the people we spoke to on the telephone. Our first order was for blinds (to try them out) to replace the worn and damaged blinds on two of our doors. They arrived within two weeks and I had them installed within a half an hour. Suffice it to say, we were very impressed by the quality of both the service and the products we received. So much so that we ordered another two blinds for our living room a week ago. They arrived today and were every bit as good as the first set we ordered. It is not often I find an on-line company that I am prepared to recommend highly, but this is one. The company is, I think, based in Quebec and all the people we spoke to live and work in Canada. They sounded as if they were just next door on the telephone. I am not sure where the blind components were manufactured. The blinds themselves appear to be cut to length and width and assembled in San Diego (or perhaps just across the border in Mexico). In any case, they were shipped from San Diego by Fedex International Ground transport and arrived at our doorstep seamlessly (without any fuss, bother or delay from officious officialdom) within two or three days of their being shipped. Both Selblinds and Fedex gave updates on the progress of both our orders and their shipping, step by step, from the time they were placed to the final confirmation of delivery. It is hard to beat that kind of service and efficiency.
