Installing Your Cord Cleats
Once you have installed your window coverings, it’s time to install your cord cleats. This small addition is one of the most important steps, especially if you have children or pets. Excess cord is wrapped around the cord cleat to ensure a safe environment, and to maintain the functionality of your window coverings.
- Mark where you would like to install the lowest cord cleat. Make sure that this will be out of the reach of children (including if they can climb on furniture to reach it).
- Mark a spot 6 to 12 inches about this initial mark, which is where the top cord cleat will be.
- Secure the cord cleats on the marked spots using a drill.
- Pull the cord to lift your window coverings, then wrap the cord around the cord cleats in a loop or figure-8.
